16-Year-Old Charged in Connection to Double Murder

A second teen has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder for his alleged involvement in the May 2024 shooting deaths of D’Andre Wint and Quincy Johnson in Nolte Local Park in Silver Spring. In August, a 15-year-old was arrested at Dulles International Airport in connection with the case.

According to police, “16-year-old Adom Bogale Abay of Silver Spring is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two-counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence or felony for his alleged involvement in the shooting deaths of D’Andre Wint and Quincy Johnson.

Wint and Johnson, both 20-years-old, were killed on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in Nolte Local Park.

During the investigation, Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes detectives gathered evidence linking Abay to the homicides. He is currently being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit on unrelated charges and has been served with an arrest warrant. Abay has been charged as an adult for this crime.

15-year-old Onyx Santana Austin was arrested at Dulles International Airport on Monday, August 26 for his alleged involvement in the murders. Austin was taken into custody by US Customs and Border Protection after returning to the United States.”
