The Takoma Park Police Department has provided an update to its investigation of “Threats of Mass Violence” made by Yonas Alemseged Harris when he sent emails to Montgomery College and the Montgomery County Police Department threatening to “shoot up” the school.
TPPD writes that “the investigation up to this point has not revealed any evidence that Harris is in this area and poses a threat. We are continuing to work with our law enforcement partners to bring closure to this case.”
Per police, “The Takoma Park Police Department has an active arrest warrant for Yonas Alemseged Harris, 25, for Threat of Mass Violence. Harris sent intimidating and threatening emails to Montgomery College officials/employees and the Montgomery County Police Department, indicating he intended to “shoot up” Montgomery College. The college implemented a Code Red for the college today closing all locations of the school.
Harris is described as a Black male, 5’2”, 125 lbs, with brown eyes and black hair. If you come into contact with Harris, or know where he is, please do not approach him. Instead, contact the Takoma Park Police Department immediately at 301-270-1100.
