Like many football fans, Dallas Cowboys stars Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs (a Montgomery Conty native) reacted to the impressive Hail Mary touchdown by the Washington Commanders that clinched their victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The video clip is available below.
While it’s uncommon for division rivals to publicly celebrate each other’s achievements, Parsons commended Jayden Williams for his poise in outplaying #1 draft pick Caleb Williams. Diggs even expressed interest in trying out the VR machine that Williams claims to use for game preparation. “It seems like he has all the intangibles,” Parsons noted. “He breaks out of sacks, keeps plays alive, and they’re putting up impressive numbers—almost 1,800 yards this year, seven touchdowns, and only two interceptions. And we still have to face them twice.”
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn previously served as the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator for three seasons, playing a significant role in Parsons’ rise as a three-time Pro Bowler (two-time All-Pro) and Diggs’ success as a two-time Pro Bowler (one-time All-Pro). “When your coach instills that confidence in you and energizes you, you’re going to give it your all every time,” Diggs said. Parsons added, “That’s who Dan is,” praising the morale, spirit, and energy he brought to the Cowboys’ defense during his tenure.
Reactions to the praise from these division rivals have been predictably mixed. “I wouldn’t like this if I were a Cowboys fan,” one user commented on social media. Another fan remarked, “We don’t.” They expressed frustration, saying, “These guys are more focused on the success of the Washington Commanders than on fixing what’s broken in their own locker room. I only see them winning two more games this season, on Thanksgiving Day and in December against Carolina.” Another fan quipped, “Those guys miss playing for Dan Quinn; I hope Adam Peters brings both of them to Washington.”
The Washington Commanders are currently on top of the NFC East with a 6-2 record, ahead of the 5-2 Eagles, 3-4 Cowboys, and 2-6 New York Giants. The Commanders play the Giants on Sunday while the Cowboys travel to Atlanta.
