After a 7-2 start, the Washington Commanders have lost three straight heading into today’s game against the Tennessee Titans. Yesterday, they made some major moves, releasing 2023 1st round draft pick Emmanuel Forbes Jr., and today they made another move that shows what the current regime thinks of Ron Rivera’s draft picks.
2022 2nd round pick Phidarian Mathis, who has played in all 12 games, is a healthy scratch. That means he is inactive for today’s games and it’s not due to injury. On Saturday, the Commanders elevated defensive tackle Carl Davis and now we appear to know the reason.
Additionally, on Saturday, the Commanders placed RB Austin Ekeler on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least four games until he is eligible to return. Kicker Zane Gonzalez has also been elevated from the practice squad after the team placed Austin Seibert on injured reserve earlier in the week.
Washington drafted 51 players from 2018-2023. Only 13 remain:
2018 – Daron Payne
2019 – Terry McLaurin
2020 – n/a
2021 – Sam Cosmi, Dyami Brown, BSJ, John Bates, Darrick Forrest
2022 – Phil Mathis, Brian Robinson, Percy Butler, Chris Paul
2023 – Quan Martin, Chris Rodriguez— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) November 30, 2024
