Blake High School Alumna Maya Eaglin Makes Forbes 2025 30 Under 30 List

Maya Eaglin, who is a digital reporter at NBC and a co-host of NBC’s Gen Z Snapchat show “Stay Tuned”, has made the 2025 Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Media category. She’s also a Montgomery County native and 2015 graduate of James Hubert Blake High School in Silver Spring.

Before attending Blake High School, Eaglin was a student at White Oak Middle School. She shares, “Growing up in Montgomery County was a wonderful experience, filled with countless memories of everything the area has to offer. Two aspects that stand out to me are the diversity and accessibility. I was fortunate to have friends from a variety of cultures, which allowed me to learn about the world from an early age thanks to the vibrant communities in MoCo. I also loved being just a drive away from downtown DC, the ocean, or the mountains—there’s truly something for everyone here. Some of my closest friends are those I met while living in MoCo, and I still keep in touch with many of them today. Growing up with my family in this area was an incredible experience.”

Forbes highlights Eaglin as one of the youngest on-air talents at NBC. Her show, “Stay Tuned,” boasts over 10 million subscribers across TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, and Instagram. Her reporting has appeared on Nightly News with Lester Holt, MSNBC, and The Today Show, covering topics such as Gen Z’s quest for the American Dream, the Uvalde school shooting, Columbia’s student protests, and the role of social media in addressing self-harm content. Forbes also notes that she received the Gracie Award in 2021 and the Front Page Awards from the Newswomen’s Club of New York in 2022 and 2023.

“I had my first classes in TV Broadcasting and Journalism in Montgomery County Schools, and I am truly thankful for the early introduction to this industry. I also cherish memories of local theater, bonfire conversations with friends, and driving through holiday light displays in Columbia,” Eaglin reflected.

When we inquired about her favorite local restaurants, she replied, “My top pick would be Zene’s Deli and World Market in Downtown Silver Spring. The DMV area has some of the best Ethiopian and global cuisine in the entire country! I take great pride in being from MoCo, as it provided me with an amazing foundation for where I am today.”
