Man in Custody After Injuring Two Police Officers

Montgomery County Police have arrested 35-year-old Michael MacCrae Shannon following an incident on Monday, December 16, 2024, that left two 6th District officers injured in Montgomery Village.

According to police, “Around 11:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person in distress in the 7900 block of Otter Cove Court [off of East Village Ave]. When officers arrived, Shannon became aggressive and attacked them. Officers were able to gain control of Shannon and take him into custody without requiring additional assistance.

One officer sustained a serious injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but is expected to recover.

Shannon was evaluated on the scene by Montgomery County Fire Rescue before being to a local hospital, and once medically cleared he was transported to the Central Processing Unit. He is being held without bond and faces charges of second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and intoxicated endangerment.”
