Washington Commanders Open 21-Day Practice Window For Austin Ekeler to Return From IR

The Washington Commanders have opened the practice window for running back Austin Ekeler to return to the team from injured reserve.

Ekeler has been out since November 24th, when he suffered his second concussion of the season against the Dallas Cowboys. His first concussion came against the Cincinnati Bengals in week 3. Ekeler has 355 rushing yards on the season, along with 4 touchdowns. He has also caught 33 balls for 346 receiving yards.

Sam Fortier of the Washington Post reported that with Ekeler on the field this year, the Commanders have used 2 running back sets 19% of the time. Without him, just 2%.

This past week, defensive tackle Jonathan Allen returned from injured reserve after suffering what was initially believed to be a season-ending pectoral injury against the Baltimore Ravens in week 6.
