National Weather Service: “Light to Moderate Snow to Overspread The Region Tonight”

Update: A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of the DC Metro Area, including C/SW Montgomery County

The National Weather Service (NWS) writes that a “period of light to moderate snow will overspread the region this evening into tonight. Some lingering snow east of I-95 Saturday morning, then dry/cold through the weekend.”

Winter Weather Advisories are up south of town, but for the DC Metro area the NWS expects less than an inch of snow. The “higher end amount” map (seen below) shows up to 2 inches in the area while little to no snow is what is shown on the “lower end amount.”

Snow is expected to start late tonight and will likely finish by sunrise, so if the expected amount falls then only the overnight hours would be the only thing impacted. If higher end totals fall then the morning may also see some impact.
