The store clerk reported that an unknown male subject was behind the counter arguing with employees. Upon arrival, officers identified the individual as Trevino and escorted him out of the store. Officers explained to Trevino that he was not permitted to return to the premises and needed to leave the area. Trevino refused to comply and continued to argue with officers.
As officers attempted to leave the scene, Trevino approached one of the officer’s cruisers and threatened to kill him. The officer exited his vehicle and attempted to detain Trevino, who resisted by pulling away and balling his fists, striking the officer’s hand in the process. Trevino was issued verbal commands to get on the ground and comply, but he refused and fled on foot toward University Boulevard.
Shortly after, Trevino returned to the scene and was taken into custody without further incident. During the investigation, store clerks reported that Trevino had damaged and consumed approximately $50 worth of food products.
