Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to an incident on Sunday evening involving a pedestrian struck and trapped under a train near the North Bethesda Metro Station on Marinelli Road.
Update: According to MCFRS Spokesperson Pete Piringer the incident occurred in the tunnel between the North Bethesda and Twinbrook Metro Stations. The pedestrian sustained a traumatic injury and, despite efforts by MCFRS Emergency Medical and Integrated Health Services (EMIHS), did not survive. The WMATA Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Metro Transit Police are on the scene.
According to Metro, “Trains are single tracking between Twinbrook and Grosvenor. Red Line: Trains are not running between Rockville and Grosvenor because of a trespasser struck by train at North Bethesda. Shuttle bus service has been requested.”
We will provide updates as additional verified information becomes available.
