Chief Antonio DeVaul from the Takoma Park Police Department announced the arrest of Cameron Cooper, 35, of no fixed address, for attempted armed robbery and 1st degree assault.
According to police, “On January 31 at approximately 7:50 pm, Takoma Park Police, in coordination with Metropolitan Police Department officers, responded to a disturbance in the 6900 block of Laurel Avenue involving multiple victims and a suspect wielding a knife.
The victims reported that while walking in the area, they were approached by the suspect, identified as Cameron Cooper, who requested a cigarette. When the victims informed Cooper that they did not smoke, he became agitated and began yelling and cursing at them. Cooper then displayed a knife and chased the victims, making threats.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported or observed, and the victims did not require medical assistance. All victims completed formal statements and were released from the scene. Cooper was arrested, charged accordingly, and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.”
