Tree Falls Through Roof of Occupied Bedroom; Multiple Calls of Downed Trees and Power Lines

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) have responded to multiple calls for downed trees and power lines due to the high winds on Sunday afternoon, including a tree that fell through the roof of an occupied bedroom.

According to MCFRS Chief spokesperson Pete Piringer, high winds caused a tree to fall through the roof of an occupied bedroom on Maple Leaf Ct. in Montgomery Village Sunday afternoon. • 3:45pm– SB I270 between Rt121 and Rt27 Boyds area, collision tree down, possibly involving vehicle, some lanes blocked

• 4:01pm– 18600 Azalea Dr., Near Rocky Way, Derwood, tree fell on house

• 4:03pm– 100 Fleece Flower Dr. Near Suffield Dr., Gaithersburg, tree fell on house

• 4:06pm– Grosvenor La IAO I270 and Rockville Pike, ‘live’wires down tree on fire, brush fire

• 4:07pm– 10400 New Hampshire Ave. near Oaklawn Drive, tree on house, power out in area
