Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School on Lockdown For Report of Weapon on Campus

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has placed Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School on lockdown on Tuesday, February 25.

11:44am UPDATE: The lockdown at Bethesda Chevy Chase has been lifted. MCPD is still on scene.

11:11am UPDATE: Bethesda Chevy Chase is transitioning to a shelter in place. MCPD is still investigating the validity of the report.

10:57am UPDATE: MCPD is on the Bethesda Chevy Chase campus actively investigating the report. At this time, no weapon has been found, but officers are continuing the search. The school remains on lockdown as a precaution.

At 10:30 a.m., MCPD issued the following alert: “Bethesda Chevy Chase H.S. is on lockdown for the report of a weapon on campus. MCPD is investigating the validity of the report.”

Last week the school was placed on a precautionary lockdown following reports of shots fired after a fight at a nearby park. The Maryland-National Capital Park Police arrested a juvenile and a 19-year-old male following that incident on firearm-related charges, including first-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
