The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has shared the following brief summary of events regarding a fatal collision in the intersection of Norbeck and Layhill Roads on Friday afternoon.
According to MCPD, “At 12:48 p.m., Montgomery County Department of Police 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the location for a collision involving a tractor trailer and SUV.
The preliminary information available is that the driver of the tractor trailer was traveling eastbound on Norbeck, and the adult female driver of a Blue Kia Seltos was traveling northbound on Layhill Road, when the two collided.
The tractor trailer dragged the SUV several hundred feet before coming to a stop. The adult female driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The Collision Reconstruction Unit has responded to the location and is investigating this collision.
The intersection of Norbeck and Layhill Roads will shut down for several hours. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route. A news release will be distributed once more information is available, including the name of the decedent, following proper notification of next of kin.”
