The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has announced that a new traffic signal at Woodward High School, located on Old Georgetown Rd. in North Bethesda, is set to enter mandatory 72-hour flash operation on or around Monday, March 10, 2025. Following this initial phase, the signal will transition to full-color activation on or about Thursday, March 13, 2025.
Woodward High School, situated at 11211 Old Georgetown Road in Rockville, is currently serving as a temporary location for students from Northwood High School while their new building is under construction. This transition began in September 2024 and is expected to last until August 2026. Once the new Northwood High School is completed, Woodward High School will officially reopen to students in September 2026.
The installation of the new traffic signal aims to enhance safety for students, staff, and drivers in the area, facilitating smoother traffic flow during this transitional period. Community members are encouraged to remain attentive to the new signal as it becomes operational in the coming days.
