Suspect Arrested After Vehicle Break-ins and Commercial Burglary

On Wednesday evening, at approximately 9 PM, officers from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) 4D Specialized Unit observed a suspect attempting to open vehicle doors near the intersection of Amherst Avenue and University Boulevard in Wheaton, according to a social media post by District 4 Commander David Smith.

According to Commander Smith, the suspect then forcibly entered the Express Check Cashing & Laundromat located in the 2300 block of University Boulevard West. Officers quickly moved in and took the suspect into custody inside the business without incident.

During the arrest, stolen cash and property linked to earlier thefts from vehicles were recovered. Additional information about the suspect was not shared. Commander Smith’s post can be seen in full below:
