The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has shared that the 2025 Residential Sweeping Program will begin around April 1, 2025 (with approximate 2025 dates available in late March for sweeping in your area).
MCDOT shares that “residential sweeping begins every spring and typically ends in early July. This annual program is designed to ensure clean and environmentally friendly neighborhood streets. Each year, crews sweep over 4,100 miles of residential roadways and remove around 1,000 tons of debris.
Please note that “No Parking” signs will be posted in most sweeping neighborhoods. Not every pole or every street will have one. Cars will not be towed for the sweeping program. However, sweeping trucks cannot return to re-sweep areas where cars were parked. Click on “Additional Information” below for additional Parking suggestions.”
To check the schedule for your neighborhood, please type your address into the box that can be found on the MCDOT website. Then, click on the colored area of the map. The anticipated sweep dates will pop up. Those dates are approximate and can be affected by weather, amount of debris collected, equipment availability and other variables. To see the entire sweeping schedule in a table, click on the pull-down arrow at the bottom of the map.
The purple colored areas are those that the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has determined are in sensitive watersheds and receive priority sweeping. An accessible Street Sweeping application for persons with visual disabilities is provided on this page.
