Two Maryland Restaurants Included in List of Most Exciting Restaurant Openings This Spring

Eater DC has compiled a list of the “Most Exciting D.C. Restaurant Openings to Look Forward to This Spring”, which includes two restaurants in Maryland (both in Montgomery County).

Bouboulina, located at 921 Meeting Street in North Bethesdas Pike & Rose neighborhood, has opened since this list was released earlier this month. A first look at the restaurant can be seen here.

The full-service American grill influenced by Mediterranean cuisine is named for Bouboulina, a heroine of the Greek War of Independence who commanded her own fleet and private army and became the first woman in world naval history to become an admiral. The restaurant features a wood-fired grill, premium steak cuts, fresh seafood and house baked breads with Mediterranean influences that celebrate the founders’ heritage and roots.

The second Maryland restaurant included on the list is Duke’s Grocery, which is scheduled to open its first Maryland outpost at 10128 River Rd. in Potomac. Duke’s, a DC-based, East London-inspired gastropub, will be located in the Potomac Village shopping center– in the space previously occupied by Lock 72 Kitchen & Bar (closed in October 2023).

According to Duke’s, “Guests at the Potomac location can expect the menu to include Duke’s Grocery staples such as massive sarnies (sandwiches), seasonal bevvies (cocktails), hearty salads, local beers, and a robust wine list alongside crowd favourites such as the Proper Burger®, white truffle mac and cheese, fish and chips, and full English breakfasts during brunch.”
