Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a serious collision involving three or four vehicles with reported entrapment that occurred at the intersection of Newport Mill Road and University Blvd in Kensington Tuesday afternoon.
Earlier today, emergency response teams were dispatched after the incident led to blocked lanes and challenging rescue operations. According to MCFRS Chief spokesperson Pete Piringer, multiple units responded to the call. The initial reports confirmed that one individual has been successfully extricated from the wreckage. Among the responding units were A742C, PRS703, PE705B, BC702, EMS703, A742D, and RS742B, with additional assistance noted from at least one transport unit listed as a non-life-threatening injury.
Authorities have not yet released detailed information regarding the conditions of those involved in the collision aside from stating that at least one person has been extricated with care. Investigation details, including the specific causes of the crash, are still underway. Motorists in the vicinity of Newport Mill Road and University Blvd. are advised to seek alternative routes as cleanup efforts and ongoing investigations continue.
