Several Wind Related Incidents Reported Across the County This Evening

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8pm today. Per the National Weather Service, “Expect wind gusts greater than 40 mph. Wind gusts of this magnitude will make driving high profile vehicles difficult, and cause loose outdoor objects to be blown around. Secure loose outdoor objects to prevent property damage.” This evening there have been several incidents reported by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS), though not all may be attributed to the wind. They can be seen below:

• 5:20pm: Cattail Lane and Cattail Rd., Poolesville, brush Fire 5:34pm update: Update- Cattail Rd, power out in Poolesville area, wires down and burning, half to 1 acre on fire, wind driven, cattail Road blocked between Route 28 and Route 107

• 5:22pm: IAO Martinsburg Road and Darnstown Rd., Dickerson, large tree, limb on wires, burning, some lanes blocked @mcfrs on scene

• 5:38pm: 4500 Bel Pre Rd. near Arctic Avenue, tree down across road, wires down, @mccrs on scene

• 5:58pm: Giant food store, 20,000 Goshen Rd., Gaithersburg area, investigating smoke in rear of store, no fire evident

• 5:59pm: New Hampshire Avenue and Stonegate Drive, tree down on wires, some lanes blocked

• 6:03pm: Wasche Road and W. Hunter Rd., Beallsville/Poolesville, collision
