MCFRS Respond to Report of Smoke in Computer Science Building at Montgomery College

Smoke was reported this morning in the Computer Science building at Montgomery College’s Rockville campus, prompting a response from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS).

At 8:06 am, MCFRS Chief spokesperson Pete Piringer confirmed that multiple apparatus, including units PE732, PE723, PE728, PE721, PE726, AT723, PAT708, RS703, A703, BC703, BC704, and others, were en route to the scene at the Montgomery College-Rockville campus on Mannakee Street.

An update was provided at 8:22 a.m., stating that although smoke had been observed, there was no fire. Investigations revealed that the alert was caused by an electrical issue in the building. Emergency responders isolated power as a precaution and coordinated with campus maintenance to address the problem. No injuries were reported.
