Downed Trees Shut Down Multiple Roads Tuesday Morning

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD)  has shared two traffic advisories so far on Tuesday morning, warning motorists of roads that have been shut down to fallen trees, with one falling on a vehicle.

According to MCPD at 9:18am, “Maryland Ave between Monument and West Argyle Street is shut down [Rockville]. A tree has fallen on a car. There are no reported injuries. Drivers are asked to seek an alternate route and expect delays.” MCPD shared an additional traffic advisory at 10:32 am, “A fallen tree has Clopper Rd at Waring Station shut down [Germantown]. Traffic is being redirected to Cinnamon Drive.”

Alert Montgomery shared at 10:43am that a “Traffic incident closes all lanes of MD-117 (Clopper Rd) between Waring Station Rd and Cinnamon Dr. [Germantown]. Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route”

There is a flood watch in effect until 6am Wednesday morning with heavy rain expected throughout Tuesday. Unrelated to today’s weather, a tree and downed wires closed Bradley Lane between Maple Avenue and Hillcrest Place in Chevy Chase yesterday.
