The Washington Commanders made significant moves this offseason to strengthen key positions and deepen their roster, but questions remain about the team’s ability to rush the passer. Four-time Pro Bowler Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals appears to be back on the market and Bet Ohio has the Commanders as the landing spot with the second best odds.
| Team | Odds | Percentage Chance |
| Detroit Lions | +400 | 20.0% |
| Washington Commanders | +450 | 18.2% |
| Green Bay Packers | +500 | 16.7% |
| Indianapolis Colts | +650 | 13.3% |
| Arizona Cardinals | +700 | 12.5% |
| Chicago Bears | +1900 | 5.0% |

Hendrickson, who has 35 total sacks in the last two seasons and 60.5 in the last five, wants a new contract. Negotiations with the Bengals don’t seem to be going well, and it looks like he may be on the move. The Lions, Commanders, and Packers– all teams who believe they may be close– are the three favorites to trade for the 30-year-old EDGE.
For the Commanders, the team’s biggest question mark remains on the defensive line. Longtime Commander and former first-round pick Jonathan Allen departed for Minnesota, opening the door for Johnny Newton to shine as a full-time starting defensive tackle alongside Daron Payne. Javon Kinlaw has also been added to the front, and while his role is yet to be defined, free agent additions Deatrich Wise and Eddie Goldman indicate the team’s intent to bolster its run defense before potentially addressing the pass rush next year.
We feel the team will likely be adding a couple veteran pass rushers this offseason, but it may be from the bargain bin rather than a player like Hendrickson– who would cost the team draft capital as well as a massive contract extension.
