Man Assaults 7-Eleven Employee Over Soda, Later Brandishes Gun

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is investigating a May 7 assault at a Rockville 7-Eleven, where a man attacked employees after being told soda wasn’t free, later brandishing a handgun before fleeing toward the White Flint Metro Station.
According to MCPD, “At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers from the 2nd District responded to the 11500 block of Rockville Pike for a reported assault.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the store, approached the soda fountain, and began filling a cup and drinking the soda. When an employee informed the suspect that the soda was not free, the suspect struck the employee. He then began throwing items from store shelves at the employees before leaving the store.

When the suspect attempted to re-enter the store, employees held the door closed. The suspect then pulled out a handgun and threatened the employees before leaving in the direction of the White Flint Metro Station.

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 6-feet 3-inches tall, with black hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing black pants, a green shirt, a gray jacket, and a black Washington Commanders sweatshirt. He was carrying a pink shoulder bag and a black backpack.
