On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to 600 incidents, including 295 medical calls and 247 fire-related calls, more than 200 of which occurred between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m., mostly involving downed trees and wires.
Multiple incidents involved trees falling on homes and vehicles. In Takoma Park, a large tree struck a house in the 100 block of Elm Avenue near Allegheny Avenue, damaging the structure and shearing off a gas meter, which caused a gas leak and prompted an evacuation. At Connecticut Avenue and East West Highway, a tree fell onto a passenger vehicle and a bus. Several patients were evaluated, but no serious injuries were reported.
Following last night’s storms, MCDOT Highway Services crews are responding to over 100 reports of downed trees and debris across Montgomery County and is asking residents to contact 311 to report issues.
