Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) is currently responding to a significant house fire incident on Rocking Horse Road in Rockville Tuesday evening.
According to MCFRS Chief spokesperson Pete Piringer, the emergency was initially reported at a single-family house on 11800 Rocking Horse Road, near Red Fox Road. Upon arrival, heavy fire and black smoke were evident at the rear of the single-family residence. A large number of units, including engines, ladders, rescue units, brush units, specialized units, and EMS, were dispatched to the scene to address the blaze.
In an update to the initial report by Piringer, firefighters are now managing the situation along Rocking Horse Road off Boiling Brook Parkway at a one-story single-family home where the fire is visible on the rear deck and has extended into the main structure.
Additional apparatus, including more engines, a portable tank, and further assisting units, have been added to the response effort. Firefighters are operating under challenging conditions with an ambient temperature of 92°F and humidity at 65%.
