In the summer of 2019, we announced that Bear Brick Oven Pizza would take over the old Greek Islands Grill location on New Hampshire Avenue in Cloverly. After delays due to COVID, the restaurant opened its doors in April 2021. Now, after a little over four years, the restaurant has closed.
Bear Brick Oven Co. became known for its signature pizzas and diverse menu featuring salads, sandwiches, and other entrees. The restaurant also offers a selection of local craft beers. Popular menu items include the classic Brick Oven Cheese Pizza, the meat-lover’s delight “The Spencerville Pizza,” a Basket of Fries, and a steak & cheese dish reminiscent of those sold at Jerry’s– a nod to Jarrell’s past tenure there.
Jarrell was working with two current employees interested in purchasing the restaurant and continuing operations under new ownership, but tells us that it doesn’t look like it will work out. “Either way, we’re keeping the name and plan to open another BBOP one day. I got knocked down, but I’ll get back up, stronger than ever” Jarrell said.
