This new Damascus location marks a significant expansion for Tao’s Optimal Performance (TOP) Gym, which successfully launched its first Montgomery County gym in Poolesville in early 2024. The owners, Katie and Tim Tao, expressed their excitement about bringing their unique fitness philosophy to another community.
The inspiration behind TAOS Gym is to provide a dedicated, accessible, and community-focused space for individuals of all fitness levels. TOP Gym is known for its 24/7 access and a “made specifically for its members!” approach, emphasizing transparency with no enrollment fees, no cancellation fees, no hidden fees, and no term contracts, with a straightforward monthly price.
The new Damascus gym takes over the former dry cleaners location next to Weis, offering a convenient and central spot for residents. Like its Poolesville counterpart, TOP Gym features premium equipment to support a wide range of workouts, from free weights and barbells to state-of-the-art machines, functional trainers, and cardio equipment.
Tim Tao, with over two decades of experience in the fitness industry across the DMV area, aims to equip members with everything needed for a “TOP level workout.” The gym prides itself on creating an inclusive environment, adapting its services to meet all ages, abilities, and body styles.
