The Baltimore Ravens and Washington Commanders have mutually agreed to cancel their upcoming joint practice, citing “logistical challenges” and the short turnaround between games as the primary reasons. The practice, which was scheduled to take place before their preseason matchup, has been scrapped to allow both teams to focus on their individual preparations.
The Ravens released a statement explaining the decision: “Recognizing the logistical challenges — with our teams’ previous games scheduled on different days — and the added strain on players heading into a short week, the Ravens and Commanders mutually agreed to no longer hold a joint practice next week. Instead, we will concentrate on preparing for our upcoming preseason matchup.”
Commanders’ head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the cancellation was due to a scheduling conflict and called the situation “a bummer.” However, he noted that the team’s plans for their starters to play against the Bengals were already in place and are not affected by the change.
The Commanders are set to face the Bengals on Monday night, August 18th at 8 pm, and then they will close out the preseason against the Ravens on Saturday, August 23rd. The team’s regular season will kick off at home against the New York Giants on Sunday, September 7th at 1 pm.
