Detectives from the Gaithersburg Police Department – Investigative Section are actively investigating two shootings that occurred overnight, early Wednesday morning.
Per Gaithersburg Police: On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers responded to the 16600 block of S. Westland Drive for a report of sounds of gunshots heard in the area. A search of the area was conducted but no evidence of a shooting was found. At approximately 12:30 a.m., Montgomery County Police were notified of an adult male arriving at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. A preliminary investigation determined the victim had been in the 200 block of Swarthmore Avenue in Gaithersburg at the time of the shooting.
Officers responded to that location and located evidence consistent with a shooting incident. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at approximately 3:05 a.m., officers responded to the area following a report of gunshots heard. Upon arrival, officers conducted a search and recovered evidence confirming that a shooting had taken place. No injuries have been reported at this time. This remains an open and active investigation.
