Quincy’s Bar & Grille (616 Quince Orchard Rd. Gaithersburg, MD), a longtime neighborhood staple for football fans in Montgomery County, has unveiled its new “Commanders Corner.” The revamped bar and lounge space is dedicated to the Washington Commanders and their loyal fan base.
The update comes with excitement building around Washington’s NFL franchise, following a surge of optimism after the team’s unexpected run to the NFC Championship last season. Quincy’s, located in Gaithersburg, has long been a go-to spot for football viewing, boasting 21 TVs and live sound throughout the bar and restaurant.
Owners Marty and Alexis, lifelong Eagles and Lions fans respectively, took over the former Ernie’s in 2008, rebranding it as Quincy’s. Though Washington football has had its ups and downs, from the electrifying RGIII rookie season to poor records and years marked by ownership controversy and name changes, Quincy’s remained a reliable gathering spot for fans. “When no one expected much, our team made it to the NFC Championship,” said General Manager Peter Nguyen, a lifelong Washington fan. “That season reignited excitement and reminded us why loyalty matters. Our fans stuck with this team through decades of disappointment, and now we finally have something to cheer about.”
The new Commanders Corner was designed as a tribute to those dedicated fans. Despite Marty’s personal allegiance to Philadelphia, and the Eagles’ recent Super Bowl victory, the owners wanted to create a space where Washington supporters feel at home. “Loyalty pays off,” Nguyen added. “This is for the fans who never stopped showing up.”
