MCPD Update: “At approximately 9:46 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to Long Branch Local Park in the 700 block of Langley Drive, for reports of shots fired. Officers located two adult males with apparent gunshot wounds near the rear of the basketball court by the playground.
One victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. His current status has not been confirmed. Despite life-saving efforts, the second victim was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, no suspect information is available and no arrests have been made. A news release will be distributed once more information is available, including the name of the decedent, following proper next-of-kin notification.”
Late Friday night, two adult males were shot in Silver Spring. The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) shared information about the developing situation on social media. According to the initial post by MCPD at 10:41 pm, the department’s 3rd District officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Langley Place following a report of a shooting at approximately 9:46 pm.
An update from the MCPD at 11:16 p.m. confirmed that two adult males were shot. The police department’s Public Information Officer is on the way to the scene to provide further details and the condition of the men is currently unknown.
