The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) responded to a double shooting Friday night in Silver Spring, where one man died at the scene and another was transported to the hospital in critical condition; no suspect information or arrests have been reported.
According to MCPD, “At approximately 9:46 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to Long Branch Local Park in the 700 block of Langley Drive, for reports of shots fired. Officers located two adult males with apparent gunshot wounds near the rear of the basketball court by the playground.
One victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. His current status has not been confirmed. Despite life-saving efforts, the second victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, no suspect information is available and no arrests have been made. A news release will be distributed once more information is available, including the name of the decedent, following proper next-of-kin notification.”
