ISAAC’s Poultry Market, already recognized by the Restaurant Association of Maryland in 2023 for having the best sandwich in the state, and by Chowhound when its Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich the best chicken sandwich in Maryland, has now been crowned as having the “absolute best” sandwich in Maryland by Tasting Table.
Tasting Table is a popular digital media company and website that focuses on food and drink. Founded in 2008, it provides a variety of content for food enthusiasts and creates a list highlighting the “absolute best” sandwich in each state. The winner in Maryland was Montgomery County’s very own Isaac’s Poultry Market.
Founded by Montgomery County native Rob Gresham, former Director of Operations at CAVA, ISAAC’s opened its first location in February 2023 at 12167 Darnestown Road in Gaithersburg and opened its Burtonsville, MD location at 15785 Old Columbia Pike this past February. The menu includes roasted chicken, wings, fried chicken sandwiches, salads, and frozen custard.
Tasting Table writes, “Isaac’s Poultry Market’s chicken sandwich was crowned the victor of the Restaurant Association of Maryland’s “best sandwich competition” in 2023, and followed that up by placing in the top 10 of the World Food Championships in Texas. All this success is no accident: The restaurant uses only fresh chicken, which it marinates for 24 hours before breading it, frying it, and combining it with special sauce and slaw.”
