The Metropolitan Police Department has announced an arrest in connection with the fatal July stabbing of a Gaithersburg man in Northwest Washington, D.C.
According to police, the incident occurred just after midnight on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, when officers from MPD’s Third District responded to a report of a stabbing in the 700 block of V Street NW. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male suffering from a stab wound. The victim, identified as 31-year-old Jonathan Simmons-Miller of Gaithersburg, Maryland, was transported by D.C. Fire and EMS to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts.
On Thursday, October 16, 2025, the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fugitive Unit arrested 35-year-old Leon Bryant, who has no fixed address, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant. Bryant, who was already incarcerated at the time of his arrest, has been charged with ‘First Degree Murder While Armed’ in connection with the case.
