Lego Replica of MCFRS Fire Station Steals the Show at Annual Open House

One of the biggest highlights at this year’s Chevy Chase Fire Department Open House was a stunning Lego replica of Fire Station 707. The detailed creation captured the attention of both kids and adults alike.

The model was designed, purchased, and built by Town of Chevy Chase resident Howard Berkof, who spent about three months completing the project. The replica features intricate details that mirror the real-life Station 707, home to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) in Chevy Chase. From the fire truck bays to the station’s signature facade, Berkof’s work showcases both artistic creativity and deep appreciation for the local department.

The display was the centerpiece of the department’s annual Open House, an event that drew neighbors, families, and local officials to celebrate community safety and the people who make it possible. MCFRS Special Operations (including the Bomb Squad) and the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad (BCCRS) participated in live demonstrations, while the Lego station drew a steady stream of admirers throughout the day. MCFRS Fire Chief Corey Smedley said he looks forward to construction of additional fire stations.
