Sixty Vines, the Texas-based restaurant known for its wine-on-tap program and vineyard-inspired cuisine, has had a busy first week at its new Downtown Crown location in Gaithersburg. The restaurant officially opened on Monday, October 13, marking its first location in Maryland, and has seen heavy crowds every night since.
Servers and staff say the energy has been nonstop. Even late into the evening on Saturday, October 18, every table and bar seat was filled, with guests still waiting for spots at 9:15 p.m. “It’s been like this every night,” one server shared, adding that the team expects the second week to be just as busy.
Located at 212 Ellington Blvd., the restaurant occupies the former site of Pour House and brings a new kind of wine-centered dining experience to Montgomery County. Sixty Vines has built its reputation around its wine-on-tap system, which offers more than 60 wines available by the glass, flight, or shareable carafe. The tap system keeps each pour fresh while also reducing packaging waste, a hallmark of the brand’s focus on sustainability. Representatives from Sixty Vines have described the concept as “bringing wine country to Gaithersburg.”
The menu features seasonal, “vineyard-inspired” cuisine designed to pair seamlessly with the wine selection. Offerings include shareable boards, house-made pastas, pizzas, and entrées made with fresh ingredients. The restaurant’s open design, communal seating, and bright, airy atmosphere are all meant to evoke the feeling of a vineyard tasting room.
