Chase Bank Signs On For Upcoming Kentlands Location

Updated to reflect that Mattress Warehouse will be taking over one half of the space that was previously home to Buca Di Beppo.

A new Chase Bank branch is planned for the space currently occupied by Mattress Warehouse at 178 Kentlands Boulevard in Gaithersburg, according to the Kentlands Market Square leasing brochure. The document lists Chase as the incoming tenant for the high-visibility corner space.

A representative at the existing Mattress Warehouse location said they were unaware of any relocation plan, but leasing documents show the store will be taking over one half of the old Buca Di Beppo space. No official timeline has been announced for when Chase will take over the 5,000 SF space.

The move continues JPMorgan Chase’s steady physical expansion across the D.C. metropolitan region, at a time when many financial institutions are scaling back their brick-and-mortar presence. In 2022, the company cut the ribbon on its newly renovated regional headquarters at the Bowen Building (875 15th St. NW), located across from McPherson Square in downtown Washington, D.C.

At that time, Peter Scher, JPMorgan Chase’s Vice Chairman and Chair of the Mid-Atlantic, emphasized the firm’s long-term investment in the region. “This region, stretching from Richmond to Baltimore, is one of the largest economies in the country,” Scher said. “With the opening of our Mid-Atlantic headquarters, and our continued philanthropic and business commitments, JPMorgan Chase is supporting the future of Greater Washington. Our hope is to provide more economic opportunity for all people, no matter the neighborhoods where they live and work.”

The addition of Chase would further strengthen the Kentlands’ mix of national brands and local businesses, joining upcoming additions such as Andy’s Pizza, and Tatte Bakery & Café in nearby spaces.
