President Donald Trump to Attend Commanders-Lions Game Sunday Afternoon

President Donald Trump will be attending Sunday afternoon’s matchup between the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions at Northwest Stadium. The news was first announced Friday afternoon on The Pat McAfee Show.

The game kicks off at 4:25 p.m. and serves as a rematch of last season’s NFC playoff matchup, when the Commanders stunned the Lions to advance to the NFC Championship. This year, Detroit enters the game at 5-3, while Washington looks to rebound from a 3-6 start.

In a statement, the team said, “We are honored to welcome President Trump to the game as we celebrate those who have served and continue to serve our country. The entire Commanders organization is proud to participate in the NFL’s league-wide Salute to Service initiative, recognizing the dedication and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans, active-duty service members, and their families this Sunday.”

The President’s attendance is expected to draw national attention and heightened security as the Commanders host their annual Salute to Service game. The event, part of an NFL-wide initiative, honors members of the U.S. Armed Forces with on-field tributes, special uniforms, and pregame ceremonies.
