The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has provided an update on the investigation of a homicide that occurred Thursday evening in Silver Spring (Fairland area).
According to MCPD, at approximately 5:43pm on November 6, 2025, 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 3000 block of Memory Lane for the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found an adult female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were administered at the scene, but the victim was later pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, a male known to the victim, shot her inside the home before leaving the scene. Police say this remains an active and ongoing investigation, and detectives are currently working to locate the suspect.
The department added that a news release will be distributed once more information becomes available, including the name of the victim, following proper notification of next of kin.
