Wildflowers Coming Soon to Shady Grove Metro Station

Shady Grove Metro Station is set to get a colorful upgrade: its first-ever wildflower bed. Metro announced the upcoming addition as part of a broader effort to beautify stations across the system.

According to Metro, the wildflower planting is meant to do more than brighten the commute. The new bed will provide seasonal color, support pollinators, and enhance the overall look and feel of the area surrounding the station. WMATA says this type of landscaping is becoming a larger part of its approach to station improvements, helping create more inviting, community-friendly spaces.

The wildflower installation will be adding a burst of natural beauty to one of Montgomery County’s busiest transit hubs come the spring of 2026.
