Police Release New Details in Case Triggered by Radio Caller Claiming to Find Body in Frederick

The Frederick Police Department has released new information regarding the deceased individual discovered last week in a wooded area, an investigation that began after a caller shared details on a live radio broadcast.

Police now say the body was located off South East Street and Monocacy Blvd near the roundabout, clarifying the exact location of the discovery. Responding officers and detectives found the remains in an advanced state of decomposition, according to an update issued Tuesday afternoon. Because of the condition of the body, a positive identification has not yet been made, and that process is currently underway.

Detectives have interviewed the individual who reported the discovery, a reference to the caller who phoned into Elliot in the Morning on DC101, prompting the initial police response. At this stage of the investigation, authorities say there is no indication of foul play.

Given the unusual circumstances surrounding how the discovery was first reported and the high level of public attention the case has generated, the Frederick Police Department is urging residents and media outlets to rely solely on verified information released directly by the department.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to contact Detective Nicole Smith at [email protected] or 301-600-2102. Further updates will be provided as police continue working to confirm the identity of the deceased individual and determine additional details surrounding the case.
