The Five Guys restaurant at 3333 Olney Sandy Spring Road has officially closed its doors, ending years of service as a staple stop for local families, students, and commuters. The restaurant permanently closed at the end of business on Sunday, December 7, as we reported last week.
While the closure marks the end of an era for the current space, a sign posted in the restaurant reassured customers that Five Guys has no plans to leave the Olney community for good. The message reads:
“Please know we are not leaving for good! We are in the process of locating a new site that better serves Olney and surrounding communities.
We will be back better than ever!!”
The note confirms that the company is actively searching for a new location in the area, though no timeline or specific site has yet been announced. Five Guys has not released additional details regarding why the current location closed or whether another tenant is lined up to take over the Olney space.
Though the Olney restaurant is now permanently closed, Five Guys continues to operate multiple Montgomery County locations, including its newest area spot inside Westfield Wheaton Mall. We’ll share updates as soon as more information becomes available about the brand’s return to the Olney area.
