Pediatric Patient Reported After Severe Crash Friday Morning

MCPD Update: “The two-vehicle collision on Good Hope Rd. is now being investigated as a fatality. One adult male pronounced dead on scene. An adult male and juvenile in the second vehicle, transported with non-life-threatening injuries. Good Hope Rd. remains closed at this time.”

A serious traffic collision with entrapment shut down a portion of Good Hope Drive in Silver Spring (between Cloverly and Colesville) Tuesday morning, prompting a large emergency response and significant traffic delays.

Montgomery County Police were dispatched around 9:05 a.m. to the 900 block of Good Hope Rd. By 9:30 a.m., police announced that Good Hope Rd was closed between Twig Road and Cape May Road as crews worked the scene. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes and expect significant delays.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services confirmed units were operating at a severe motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Good Hope Drive and Good Hope Road. The incident was reported as a priority incident involving entrapment and advanced life support.

Fire and rescue officials reported a pediatric Priority 1 patient at the scene, along with an additional patient who remained trapped inside a vehicle. Crews were actively working to extricate the patients while providing medical care.
