Montgomery County police arrested a 17-year-old in Germantown on Tuesday after locating the suspect in connection with a robbery and auto theft investigation and recovering a loaded handgun with a high-capacity magazine.
According to Captain Nick Picerno, commander of the 5th District, members of the district’s Special Assignment Team identified and apprehended the juvenile suspect in the Germantown area. During a search conducted incident to the arrest, officers recovered a loaded handgun equipped with a high-capacity magazine.
Police said the magazine, while not filled to capacity at the time of the arrest, is capable of holding up to 50 rounds. The suspect was transported to the Central Processing Unit and charged as an adult for weapon-related offenses. The investigation into the robbery and auto theft remains ongoing.
