A house fire in Wheaton on Sunday evening was quickly extinguished, with no reported injuries.
MCFRS Assistant Chief David Pazos said crews were dispatched at 6:43 p.m. to a home in the 11000 block of Nicholas Drive. Firefighters found that a fire on the second floor had already been put out prior to their arrival.
Several occupants were evaluated by emergency medical personnel for possible smoke inhalation, but all declined transportation to a hospital. According to MCFRS, the fire was caused by an unattended candle that ignited nearby combustible materials. Crews remained on scene to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and to check for any additional hazards.
