A new locally owned restaurant has quietly opened its doors in Poolesville, bringing authentic Thai flavors to the heart of town. Thai Commons is now in a soft opening phase at 19635 Fisher Avenue, offering a menu rooted in traditional Thai cooking and family recipes.
The owners shared that they are a Thai family who recently moved to the area and wanted to bring the flavors, traditions, and love for Thai food that have always been part of their home. They say every dish is prepared with the same ingredients and care they would use for their own family, focusing on fresh, real Thai flavors.
During the soft opening period, Thai Commons is operating with limited capacity. The restaurant strongly recommends online ordering to help manage demand and maintain food quality. To ensure reasonable wait times, the number of orders accepted each day is capped, and online ordering will automatically close once the daily limit is reached.
The menu features a wide selection of classic Thai dishes. Starters include spring rolls, curry puffs, chicken satay, gyoza, calamari, crab rangoon, and cracker shrimp. Popular soups like tom yum, tom kha, and wonton soup are available, along with traditional salads such as Thai papaya salad and larb gai.
Entrées include pad thai, pad kee mao (drunken noodles), pad see ew, panang curry, green curry, red curry, and a variety of stir-fried dishes like kapow, cashew, garlic and black pepper, spicy eggplant, and mixed vegetables. Fried rice options range from basil fried rice and street fried rice to pineapple fried rice and crab fried rice. Proteins include chicken, minced chicken, tofu, vegetables, pork, beef, shrimp, and lump crab, with customizable spice levels from mild to Thai hot.
Desserts include mango sticky rice, when in season, and crispy banana. Beverage options feature Thai iced tea, Thai iced coffee, ice chai latte, and standard soft drinks. Thai Commons also offers a weekday lunch special priced at $11.95, which includes one starter and one entrée, available Monday through Friday from 11am to 2pm, excluding holidays.
The restaurant is open daily from 11am to 2pm and 3:30pm to 8pm, and is closed on Wednesdays. More information and online ordering can be found at thaicommons.com.
