Dellis Bar & Grill, a longtime neighborhood staple in Rosedale (Baltimore County), will permanently close at the end of the month after more than two decades serving the community.
In a message shared on social media, owners Chris and Marcia Spanellis announced that the restaurant will serve its final meal and pour its last drink on January 31, 2026. The announcement thanked customers, staff, and the broader community for years of support, memories, and shared milestones, from quick lunches to celebrations of life’s biggest moments.
Located on Philadelphia Road, Dellis’ Restaurant Bar & Grill has been family-owned and operated for over 20 years. While the Dellis name is widely associated with the family behind Michael’s Café in Timonium, the Rosedale location has its own distinct history under the Spanellis family’s leadership.
Chris and Marcia Spanellis purchased Dellis in July 2003, taking over an already-established restaurant and putting their own stamp on it. Chris brought his background as a chef, while Marcia handled the business operations, forming the foundation of what would become a true family-run establishment. Over the years, their sons became deeply involved as well, serving as the restaurant’s general manager and a chef.
Under the Spanellis family, Dellis evolved into a beloved “hidden gem” known for its welcoming, neighborhood atmosphere. The menu shifted to emphasize fresh, locally sourced produce and seafood, with standout dishes including their signature no-filler crab cakes and Chicken Chesapeake. The restaurant struck a balance between a casual sports bar and a full-service dining destination, making it a go-to spot for a wide range of diners.
Beyond the food, Dellis became a community hub. The restaurant frequently hosted local bands and entertainment, creating a hometown vibe that resonated with regulars and newcomers alike. In an era increasingly dominated by large restaurant groups, Dellis remained one of the few independent, family-run landmarks still standing in the Rosedale area.
In their closing message, the Spanellis family expressed deep gratitude to their staff, calling them “the soul of the establishment,” and to the customers who helped turn the restaurant into more than just a place to eat.
