The new Dunkin’ location in Derwood is officially opening this Friday, January 9. The opening date was confirmed by an employee at the nearby Dunkin’ on Woodfield Road in Gaithersburg. The new restaurant is located at 17700 Muncaster Road, where a former child care facility has been converted into a roughly 2,500 square foot Dunkin’.
As previously reported, the Derwood Dunkin’ plans originally included a drive thru, along with pedestrian and bicycle improvements and a new left turn lane designed to improve traffic safety along Muncaster Road. The project experienced some delays tied to permitting and roadway concerns, but construction has steadily progressed in recent months.
This Derwood opening is one of four new Dunkin’ locations planned in Montgomery County. Another location is in the works along Norbeck Road in Rockville at 4011 Norbeck Road, taking over the former Sassy Cleaners space, though an opening timeline for that site has not yet been announced. A third Dunkin’ is confirmed as part of the Rockshire Village redevelopment at 2401 Wootton Parkway across from Wootton High School, a mixed use project expected to be completed in 2027. The most recent Dunkin’ news came we reported that a Dunkin’/Baskin Robbins is moving into 898 Muddy Branch Road in Gaithersburg, filling the former Starbucks space in Muddy Branch Square.
According to the Dunkin’ website, hours for the Derwood location are listed as: Monday through Saturday: 4:30am to 9:00pm, and Sunday: 5:00am to 9:00pm.
