Takoma Park Police are investigating multiple vandalism and theft incidents that occurred across the city on January 9 and January 10, including damage to a convenience store, a residence, and several vehicles.
On January 10 at approximately 8:33pm, officers responded to the 6900 block of New Hampshire Avenue at the 7-Eleven for a report of vandalism. Police say a suspect was captured on video surveillance throwing rocks at the store, causing damage. A vehicle parked at the 7-Eleven was also damaged during the incident. That same evening, also around 8:33pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7100 block of 13th Avenue for vandalism to a residence. According to police, unknown suspect or suspects threw a large rock through the victim’s sunroom, causing property damage. Earlier that day, on January 10 at approximately 10:43am, officers responded to the 8300 block of Flower Avenue for a theft from auto and vandalism. Police determined that sometime between January 9 at 9am and January 10 at 10am, unknown suspect or suspects shattered the front left window of a vehicle and stole property from inside. While investigating the scene, officers discovered two additional vehicles with shattered windows and notified the owners. The owners of those vehicles reported that no property appeared to be missing at the time of the report.
